About 25 percent of the 65 market-rate residential units slated for Beechwood Organization’s Country Pointe Huntington development in Huntington Station have already been sold – less than two months after preconstruction sales began, according to Steven Dubb, the company’s vice president.
“You’re never quite sure what the response is going to be, and we’re really, really happy,” Dubb said, adding that a good number of sales are from first-time buyers.
Demand for the homes has pushed the starting prices of the development’s two-bedroom, two-bathroom units to $439,000 from $379,000 and the three-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom units to $499,000 from $434,000 since sales commenced on June 13.
“We’re proving there’s a lot of demand in Huntington Station,” Dubb said.
Construction has started with first homeowners expected to move in early 2016. By early 2017, the company plans to have all construction completed.
The price and timing of an additional 11 affordable units has yet to be determined.
The Beechwood property shares a 1700 East 5th St. location and amenities with neighboring apartments, Avalon Huntington Station.
